Frequently Asked Questions

What next?

If you feel that you would like come and see me, then the first step would be for us to arrange a convenient time to speak on the phone so that I can introduce myself to you and give you an opportunity to ask any questions. After that, we would then look to find a convenient time to meet here at my confidential counselling room in Thames Ditton.

How many sessions would I need?

The counselling I offer is open-ended so our work together would be as short or long-term as you feel is necessary and we would talk about this when we first meet. Each session is 50 minutes long.

What if I can't get to my session?

If you need to cancel your session, I ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice or a charge for the full fee will be incurred. Sessions can be rescheduled by phone or email, and I would be happy to work online via Skype or Zoom, or on the telephone, if it is not possible to reschedule during the same week.

How do I Pay?

Each session costs £70 and I ask for payment by cash or via card reader on the day at the start of the session. I also offer some reduced cost sessions for clients who are on a low income. Internet banking is possible for regular clients.

What is your privacy policy and GDPR?

With your permission, I retain your name, address, telephone number, email, date of birth, GP name and some basic information about your family background. This personal information is stored securely in a locked box and will not be shared with anyone else without your consent.

I make brief hand-written notes of counselling sessions for supervision purposes and they are kept under a non-identifiable client code. The notes are stored in a separate location to any personal information and are kept for 6 years (as per my insurance requirements), after which they are securely destroyed.

What about reasonable adjustments?
